📚 JSA2026 Education Overhaul Plan
“No More Washington Strings: SEZ & LEZ Zones to Rebuild NY Education from the Ground Up”
🗭 Objective
To fully reclaim control of New York’s educational future by phasing out the federal Department of Education’s influence and replacing it with a state-based system that empowers local parents, educators, and community leaders through the rollout of School Empowerment Zones (SEZs) and Local Education Zones (LEZs).
💨 The Broken System We Inherited
- Federal intrusion dictates up to 30% of daily education through testing and compliance audits.
- New York spends $29,179 per student yet ranks in the bottom half nationally.
- NYC graduates often require remedial coursework in college.
- Administrators outnumber teachers in some districts.
- Rural and low-income districts suffer from crumbling infrastructure and teacher shortages.
🧹 The SEZ/LEZ Solution Explained
🔴 School Empowerment Zones (SEZs)
- Curriculum control
- Transparent parent boards
- School choice integration
- Direct resource allocation
🔵 Local Education Zones (LEZs)
- Community-rooted learning
- Trade, agricultural, and vocational integration
- Cross-zone virtual curriculum sharing
- Shared funding pools and teacher exchanges
